Hibernia House

Hibernia Park's mansion house was the home of the ironmaster of the Hibernia Forge and started its life in 1792 when Samuel Downing first established the Forge. In 1880, the iron works were dismantled and the mansion fell into neglect. In 1894, it was purchased by Franklin Swayne, whose family owned the property until 1963, when the entire poroperty was sold to the County. In the years since, a massive restoration has taken place.
