The Avondale church was established in December of 1870 and was supplied by Rev, John S. Gilmour of Kennett Square, until 1872 when Rev. James Frazer was installed as minister, in connection with the church in Kennett Square. Rev. William R. Bingham took over leadership of the congregation in 1873 as its stated supply minister.

West Grove indulged meeting was established in 1787 out of New Garden Monthly Meeting. The Orthodox branch was discontinued in 1746 and the Hicksite branch prep meeting became part of the West Grove Monthly Meeting in 1919, when the West Motnhly Meeting was established. In 1955, the Orthodox branch of New Garden Monthly Meeting was merged into West Grove.
