George Hamilton and Nancy Johnston-Arnold

George2 Hamilton, (George1), 10 October 1837 1-21 June 1921. 2 George was the sixth child and fourth son of George Hamilton and Jane Patchell. George (Jr.) may have been their first child born in Nova Scotia. Evidently he was named after his father. About 1872 George married Nancy Arnold, 4 May 1842/43-5 April 1907, who had been widowed from John or Edgar Arnold of Scott Township, Ontario County, Ontario. Nancy was born in Whitchurch Township, York County, and was the 7th child/3rd daughter of Samuel Johnston and Ellen Dougherty. Samuel and Ellen Johnston had emigrated from Northern Ireland in 1833. Nancy had two children from her previous marriage; John Samuel Arnold, 25 January 1867-1938/39; Elizabeth Anna Arnold, 17 April 1869- . George and Nancy resided at Ravenshoe in North Gwillimbury Township. At the time of the 1901 census George and Nancy resided near Brown Hill at Lot 35, Concession 8, East Gwillimbury Township, York County. 3 George and Nancy were buried in Queensville Cemetery, Queensville, Ontario. George and Nancy had issue at least five children.
